Tasting Notes
Bright tree fruit like apricot and pear on the nose; on the palate fresh lemon and lime, pronounced yellow pear and apricot flavour along with slightly toasty almond characters, tangy lingering finish.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Pairs wonderfully with shellfish like Thai style mussels or any shellfish with hints of coconut or southern Asian flavours. Also amazing to pair with pork, like grilled pork tenderloin or pork chops with hints of sweetness, like apple and sage pork chops.
Critical Acclaim
“Aromas of honey-drizzled citrus and ripe apricot abound on the nose. It envelops the palate with an ‘attention-getting wash of palate flavours—tangy key lime pie and ripe pineapple interlaced with ripe peach, nutty notes and notions of pear. It’s medium weight with good mouthfeel and nicely balanced from cork pop to last drop providing a lingering lip-smacking finish and aftertaste. Pour alongside breaded pork cutlets, pan-seared East-coast salmon or grilled shrimp kebabs.” Score 91 Vic Harradine, winecurrent.com
“A curious flinty strike marks the entry and leads this Rosehall Run pinot gris into smoulder territory before it exits into tart meanderings and out the other side. Crunchy as expected and sharp, pointed, edging into the nether realm of the profound. One of the County's finer gris expressions. Drink 2020-2023.” Score 90 Michael Godel, WineAlign.com
“Such a well-defined nose of lemon tart, apricot, grapefruit and fuzzy peach. It’s juicy and ripe, but made in a dry style with pear, apricot, subtle peachiness and lime zest on the finish. Quite tasty and refreshing.” Score 89 Rick Vansickle, WinesInNiagara.com
“With a very subdued nose, but not atypical for the county, this is white wine of a very minerally, fruit-backwards sort, creamy but firm and tight, with fine balance and evident flavour concentration and length. While not a classic pinot gris in any worldwide paradigm, there's something compelling here, worth a look.” Score 89 John Szabo, WineAlign.com
“A rather subtle pinot gris but notably characteristic of the variety. More mineral and flinty than fruity. Lightly creamy and relatively dry. Quite elegant with freshness and purity surely from only a light winemaking touch.” Score 88 Sara d’Amato, WineAlign.com
